All evening rental shifts in the month of September (beginning September 2nd - closed Labor Day) will run from 4 - 6:30 PM (instead of the usual 4:30 - 7 PM). 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM	Float and Paint - Float & Paint Wednesday September 3rd 4:00pm Join us on September 3 for a unique immersive art experience on the water! Artist Gwen Leonard will lead participants through a guided lesson aboard our solar-powered floating classroom pontoon boat, the Friend- materials and refreshments provided. Come gain some new painting skills while learning more about PBCB and Pleasant Bay! About the instructor: Gwen Leonard is an award-winning artist specializing in impressionism, with a particular focus on watercolor and oil mediums. After studying for 15 years at the prestigious Art Student League in New York City, she has honed her craft and developed a distinctive style. Gwen is also an experienced educator, teaching plein air, introductory watercolor, and paint-and-sip classes throughout Massachusetts. Her work has been showcased in numerous juried art shows, where she continues to earn recognition for her mastery of the impressionist technique and her innovative approach to the medium.

9:30 AM - 11:30 AM	A guided bird walk of Pleasant Bay - A guided Pleasant Bay Bird Walk Join us on a guided bird walk on the islands of Pleasant Bay. We will travel aboard PBCB's electric pontoon boat "Friend" to one of Pleasant Bay's island to explore.The trips will be lead by Fi Lowry. Fi has been delighted to discover that world class birding is right here under our noses and she looks forward to introducing PBCB participants to the extraordinary bird migration that flows across the tidal flats of Pleasant Bay in fall. With a background as CEO of an international tour operating business and a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, Fi Lowry has been designing and leading birding trips worldwide for 30 years including to Europe, the Middle East, the Caribbean, Central and South America and many African countries - everywhere from Iceland to the Danube delta, Bolivia to Patagonia, Ethiopia to Namibia, Oman to Bhutan and the Galapagos islands to Madagascar.She has participated in many scientific expeditions including the original ornithological survey of Yemen and Socotra island, the Cyprus Akamas peninsula migration survey, the Ascension island endemic bird counts and the ICBP migration study in Senegal. A “wash-ashore“ on Cape Cod for the last decade, Fi has been delighted to discover that world class birding is right here under our noses and she looks forward to introducing you to the extraordinary bird migration that flows across the tidal flats of Pleasant Bay in the fall.

5:00 PM - 7:00 PM	Cape Friendly Landscapes - Cape Friendly Landscapes Join us Tuesday September 9th at 5pm as we welcome Kristin Andres who will speak about Cape Cod Friendly Landscapes.We can do better with some of our landscape choices for Nature’s sake: from the plants we choose, to the design choices, and the land care and maintenance we undertake. Hear about why it’s time to put nature first in our landscapes and some steps you can take to become better stewards of your own piece of Cape Cod.  Kristin Andres is the director for education with the Association to Preserve Cape Cod, the Cape’s leading science-based environmental advocacy non profit. APCC’s initiatives, programs, and projects focus water quality improvement and critical habitat protection. In her APCC role, Kristin is responsible for APCC’s educational programming, including the development of the living landscape on the grounds of APCC’s headquarters in Dennis. She is a former board member of the Ecological Landscape Alliance and is the regional liaison for Grow Native Massachusetts. She serves on the state’s conservationist pesticide advisory council and the town of Chatham finance committee. She currently is serving as the president of Friends of Chatham Waterways. She writes a bi-weekly nature column for the Cape Cod Chronicle and is a self-described nature and native plant enthusiast.
